Honestly the game has some strong parts like selecting cards and the idea of dish combinations, but my main problem is it doesn't feel like cooking and it's kinda too high risk missing a few ingredients.
Not sure if you ever read the book of lenses by jassee schnell but it's really good, point is there is something there. Like imagine if there were some seasoning and you add 5kg salt and customer says delicious or whatever lol it would've been funny. I'd say to iterate over it a few times with different prototypes, power up cards and basically everything should feel like cooking. Passing information to the player has been done well so far I'd say though, just throwing some ideas that's all. This won't be the last game you make anyway, also that power up where you draw 3 cards by discarding 3 ingredients was kinda confusing.
It meant to discard 3 ingredients from bag and draw to hand no?
First of all, huge thanks for your detailed feedback!
Yeah, the main goal of the game isnโt exactly about cooking but more about serving dishes with a poker-like theme. That said, the idea of seasonal dishes is something Iโve been considering.
And yeah, the power-up you mentioned destroys 3 cards from the bag and draws 3 new onesโitโs completely RNG.
Follow me on Discord to check out the gameโs updates, and thanks again!
Nice game, very fun to play:) pixel art is cute but I think it would be better if the dishes had each their own distinctive name.
First of all, I just wanna say you did a great job with the power-ups,theyโre all unique and really well-designed.
Overall, I think the first level is a bit tough for a beginner, but if you keep playing, you can definitely get through it. I personally had to play Pool 1 four times before I finally managed to beat it.
That being said, I really think the game has a lot of potential to become something great, and itโs already super addictive!
Have a deck ready without us needing to create one, wasn't sure what to click when I'm in the play menu. Thought it was a character select screen at first with the figures at the bottom.
Tutorial would need to be more dynamic as well, I'm not sure how to server when I have the right ingredients. Does the color need to match each phase? so green cards for starter etc
First of all, thank you very much for your detailed feedback!
The dynamic deck creation works in such a way that when you beat pool 1, you'll unlock new power-ups, so thatโs when you can customize your deck as you like.
In general, in the early access demo, you donโt have many options on what to click. You just put the 20 cards in your deck, choose the deck youโve created, and play pool 1.
To place the correct ingredients in a dish, you select them with a left-click, raise the dish you want to add them to, and then simply click โserve.โ
No, the color doesnโt need to match. The color of the ingredients is just there to help you distinguish them. For example, green is for vegetables, red is for meats, etc.
Again, thanks for trying it out!
Thanks I'll try it out again some other day then
I just released a new update, so feel free to check it out anytime! I hope you like the new guiding system, take a look at the devlog for details.
Thanks again!
Great game my friend, honestly.
Good job to you, I know it must have been tough to complete such a task, you should feel proud!
The thing is you have addicted me now, and I have a dissertation to complete, but I guess a good break is always helpful, right?
Looking forward to see the final version

Interesting and fun take on a classical card game. The animations are fun and the game makes you think and strategize. I'm sure with the new power-ups you can spend countless hours building and testing your deck. Can't wait to see the rest of the pools!
Thank you so much! We're thrilled youโre enjoying the strategy aspect and the power-ups! We can't wait for you to dive into the upcoming pools, lots of exciting stuff ahead! ๐ฅ๐ฎ
At first i was bad at the game but once i understood it better its actually really fun!
cant wait for the full release, i really enjoy every aspect of the gane really much, just wish the demo had more than 20 cards so the "deck" feature actually has a use.
By the way if you hold a power from the bottom of the card the description clips behind the game, but thats just a visual bug
anyway cant wait to see this get updated!
Thanks for your feedback! This visual bug is only visible on the itch.io web platform. Once it releases on steam the bug has already been fixed but i am trying my best to fix it in the web.
Gave this game a try at first and ended up playing more than 3 hours .Its addicting !!
Dish and Deal is a great mix of strategy and luck. Itโs easy to learn but keeps you thinking with every move.. The graphics are very funny!
